About

On Friday 12th April 2024, Peter Hook & The Light are set to play an intimate mental health fundraiser at Manchester’s Star & Garter, one of Manchester's best-loved independent live music venues.

The event will take place in memory of Joy Division's Ian Curtis who tragically lost his life to suicide back in May 1980 - and takes places 7-months after a mural of the singer was painted on the side of the Grade II listed venue.

The one-off event is presented by Headstock, and will see Peter Hook, founding member of Joy Division & New Order, take part in a hosted Q&A, discussing his time with Joy Division, as well as his close friendship with Curtis. Later in the evening, Hook will be joined on stage by his band to play an exclusive Joy Division set to just 200 lucky fans.

Proceeds from the event will go to support mental health charity, Shout (15% will go to Headstock to cover event production costs).

Due to limited capacity at the venue (200), tickets will be allocated via a ticket ballot. Each successful ballot entrant will be allocated 2x tickets to the event. Pricing for the ticket ballot is as follows:

  • 1x ballot entry - £10
  • 3x ballot entries - £15
  • 10x ballot entries - £20

The ballot closes on 2nd Feb 2024 at 11pm. The ballot entry tickets/barcodes you receive will not permit entry. If successful you will receive 2x guestlist tickets which will be sent to the email address linked to your Skiddle account.

ABOUT SHOUT

Shout is a free, confidential and 24/7 text messaging support service for anyone in the UK who is struggling to cope.

Launched by charity Mental Health Innovations in 2019, Shout has taken more than two million text conversations with 675,000 children, young people and adults in need of immediate support with their mental health.

Shout helps people who haven’t found support anywhere else, including those who prefer to text rather than talk about private things and those who need support out of office hours when other services might not be available. The service is powered by more than 2,000 trained volunteers who take around two thousand conversations every day, supervised in real-time by clinicians. The most common issues facing Shout texters are suicide, depression, anxiety, relationships, loneliness and self-harm.

Every £10 raised can pay for a conversation with someone in distress, that could save a life.
